Some people say that it easy being a teen in this world and I must strongly disagree. Sure people say that it is all shits and giggles because we do not work and still act all 'worry free'. The truth is parents, we are scared. Though we do not let it show, we do not know what to do with our future selves. We attempt to get work but the job market is so far down the toilet that we can not even start our basic jobs. Which brings me to my next point.
What are us teens suppose to do without jobs? All I have heard from parents are “GET A JOB!”. Now if only it was that simple. I have applied to so many places, both online and in person, that I can not check them all to see if they are even getting reviewed. Of course my mother thinks that because she had a job in middle school that I should be able to walk up to any store at any hour and get a job. Take note parents...IT IS NOT EASY ANYMORE!
I am sure you all have heard the saying, 'Shoot for the stars'. Well I have been shooting, but what good does it do if there are no stars out there? I modified this saying. “build up your rocket so that, when a star does come out, you will be the first one there”. Now of course I am not saying go literally build a rocket, but build up your connections and education.
If you have noticed I had put connections first. This is because it almost always come down to WHO you know, not WHAT you know. Most teens do not have a lot of connections to people outside their high school clicks and do not go out and introduce themselves to others. This is mostly because they see them as old and think they know more about TODAY'S problems. Though I agree that some older people are stuck in the past, but MOST elders know a lot more and have figured out problems that we struggle with today.
So to all you teens reading this, I am not saying go out and listen to any older person that tells you to get in their van because they have candy, puppies, money, or whatever it is. I am saying that you have to trust your elders. Though it may stupid, or just plain ridiculous, try it. I know that most people learn things by touching a burning stove to realize that it is hot; but c'mon teens. You are old enough to know that air is there just because you are told so. So if you are stuck and do not know what to do, just ask the old people. Then at least you have a direction to go, even though you may have to tweak the direction to head to your particular direction in life.
To finish this topic I just want to say this. Though being a teen is not easy and getting a job is damn near impossible; you should still attempt. If you do not try, you can not fail or succeed. So go out there and roll the dice in things that are important and know that at least one person is rooting for you to succeed.
I normally get bored but...whatever. In case you have noticed, I have a lazy attitude. If you want to have anything particularly done, send me a shout out at pwnedproductionz@gmail.com
